Explore eco therapy

This offering aims to tap into a holistic approach to therapeutic care, direct towards traditional ecological knowledge, and to make steps towards decolonizing therapy.  Eco Therapy is a unique offering that re-connects clients to the natural world, allowing therapeutic themes to be experimented within new contexts.  Clients are able to return into their  bodies through movement, notice internal changes as the environment shifts around them, and develop powerful skills taught by the most unexpected teachers. 

Nature offers a multitude of teachings.  From the power of slowness, to resilience, to community impact.  Accessing these teachings has developed powerful transferable skills such as pausing to expand awareness; cultivating curiosity, creativity, and intuition; supporting stress management and nervous system regulation; and developing more collaborative and humbling perspective taking.

Choosing your path

  • Into the thicket

    A more intense nature hike -several hills and a more rugged path. This option is best for those who do not have mobility issues.

  • Chatting among trees

    A moderate hike at a local community park. This trail has a few steep hills and a bench for resting.

  • Sprouting in the suburbs

    A gentle, walk through a local residential neighbourhood. This walk is stroller- friendly and is ideal for beginners.

  • Grounding together, apart

    Interested in trying eco therapy but don’t live locally?

    This virtual option allows you choose the location that works for you - your favourite trail, neighbourhood, or even your own backyard!

    We will ‘meet’ virtually (phone or video call) and walk and talk together... while physically apart.

You may benefit from Eco Therapy if:

  • You face circumstances that cause barriers to traditional therapy settings (such as availability, transportation, privacy, eye contact anxiety) and hope for more accessible options.  

  • You experience barriers around personal goal striving and would like opportunities for exposure towards experimentation, problem solving, and confidence building.

  • You are interested in expanding your cultural, spiritual, and/or ecological connection in a therapeutic context

  • You hope to develop a deeper intimacy to and awareness of your body 

  • You experience anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, negative body image, stagnation and disconnection
