Meet Your Therapist.
Magdalena (Magda) Piskorski
M.A, Registered Psychotherapist
Pronouns: She/They
My passion for mental health has been shaped by my own healing journey. Navigating the mental health system, I was able to find the appropriate supports to foster my recovery from trauma and loss.
Pursuing a career in mental health has been a life long goal of mine. I began my work through volunteerism in a distress centre, hospice, and bereavement centre. I received my HBSc in Psychology at the University of Toronto and my MA in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I am now a Registered Psychotherapist through the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). My focus is in grief, life transition, and mood/emotional disturbance. However, while working with individuals and couples, my passion lies in supporting queer and ethical non-monogamous folks.
As a queer, polyamorous, and sex and kink positive therapist, I aim to support clients in exploring their identities and developing intentional and aligned relationships. My approach is trauma-informed, intersectional, affirming, integrative, and client-centred.
In our sessions together, I am open to incorporating rituals, creative tools and reflective prompts (eg. tarot, archetypes, symbols), and bringing awareness to the body both in the office or outdoors (during a walk-and-talk sessions) to facilitate therapeutic support.
In my spare time, I am a self-care enthusiast. Hiking with my dog, staying active, expressing gratitude and engaging in creative practices are a few ways I find fulfillment.
Taking the first step in finding support can be daunting but I aim to be a guide for you so that you are not alone in your journey. Together we will hone in on your own strengths and resources to reach your goals, share your story, and navigate an authentic living.
Approach
-
At some point in our lives, distress, dysregulation, and disconnect can feel overwhelming. Reaching out for support can be daunting but you are not alone in this journey.
Tethered Psychotherapy is about feeling grounded with the support that you have access to and connecting to the resources that provide you with a sense of belonging and restoration of self- and co-regulation.
I aim to foster a warm, compassionate, transparent, and appropriately challenging space. I maintain a posture of cultural humility and respect, as well as an awareness of my privilege in my work.
I believe that the client is the expert of their own life. In sessions, you will be given the space you need to express yourself and be heard, to be informed of your options, and supported to collaboratively use your strengths and resources to reach your goals. I will be utilizing evidence-based therapies to catered to your unique needs.
